What are the Differences between Steel Structure Platform and Concrete Platform?

2025-04-30

Steel structure platform and concrete bearing base show systematic differences in material properties and functional realization paths. Steel structure platform adopts metal frame load-bearing system, forms a spatial support network through mechanical transmission between steel members, and has the characteristics of detachable reorganization and dynamic load adaptability. Concrete platform relies on hydration reaction to solidify and form a continuous solid structure. Its bearing capacity comes from the synergy of material compressive strength and overall gravity distribution.

Steel Structure Platform

In terms of structural performance, steel structure platform achieves high strength and lightness through section modulus optimization, allows cantilever design and multi-layer superposition, and has an elastic compensation mechanism for foundation settlement. Concrete platform relies on volume mass to provide stability, requires prefabricated reinforcement system to resist tensile stress, and structural changes involve demolition operations and are irreversible. The difference in environmental response is reflected in temperature deformation control. Steel structure platform releases thermal stress through telescopic nodes, and concrete uses volume inertia to buffer temperature change.

The division of construction logic lies in the construction sequence and process coordination. Steel structure platform adopts factory prefabrication and on-site bolt connection. The construction process is less restricted by weather, and modular characteristics support phased construction. The concrete platform needs to be supported, poured and maintained on site. There is a mandatory waiting period between each process, and the molding quality is significantly affected by the ambient temperature and humidity. In the comparison of maintenance modes, steel structures need regular anti-corrosion treatment to deal with the risk of rust, while concrete needs to prevent and control the oxidation and expansion of steel bars caused by water seepage.
