Steel structure grid roof is a spatial structure composed of multiple members connected by nodes in a certain grid form. A grid can be seen as a "unit" that requires nodes to be connected, and this node can be cross plate joint, welded hollow ball joint, and bolted ball joint. The connection between the rod and the node plate is made by welding or high-strength bolts. The amount of steel used for nodes generally accounts for 15-20% of the total steel used for the entire steel truss structure.
Materials for the grid roof structure should be chosen as the following requirements:
1. The main beam, secondary beam, arch architecture and other large members should use rectangular steel pipes or I-beams;
2. Grid nodes and node reinforcements which comply with specifications could be adopted
3. The outer surface covering material can be selected such as the stainless steel plate or aluminum alloy plate.
Q235 or Q345 are commonly used as materials for grid roof structures, and steel pipes or sections are commonly used for member cross-sections. Small sized member cross-sections are used to construct large-span buildings.
Considering the grid roof load and relevant regulations, use relevant software to calculate the size of the members, grid size, numbers of nodes, and span, ensuring the strength and stability of the structural members, and optimizing the section of the members.
